What has being a part of the Florida Cicerones meant to you?: Becoming a Cicerone has transformed my college experience. The people who make up this organization have shown me what it means to feel community, and every day I grow more in awe of how incredible each and every one of them are. New Member Class: 2022

Major / Minor (if applicable): Microbiology & Cell Sciences

What has being a part of the Florida Cicerones meant to you?: Being a part of the Florida Cicerones has already proven to be one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had at UF. As a Cicerone, not only am I given the platform to tell my story of personal growth at UF, but I’m also given the opportunity to hear the stories that my peers have to share. Being the first face to welcome prospective students is both an honor and a responsibility, and I’m so grateful to be representing UF alongside some of the most hardworking and inspirational people I’ve met!

Receiving this scholarship under Dr. Huy Huynh’s name is a huge honor! Dr. Huy Huynh is an inspiration for many in the AAPI community at UF, and I’m glad to see his legacy continues to make an impact today. I’d also like to thank the FCAA for supporting the membership’s academic endeavors through these scholarships and continuing the mission of uniting past, present, and future Gators.

It is an honor to be chosen for the John and Monica Rivers  Scholarship and I thank you for your generosity. I’ve enjoyed prioritizing service to my community in all aspects of my life and to see how others give back is a major driving force for me and this award is just one more example. As a first-generation student, having this financial assistance allows me to better focus on my college experience and my progression into my career. I plan to give back through a law degree and a focus in non-profit work and this opportunity allows me to pay it forward in my community, both as someone interested in the legal field, and as a Florida Cicerone presently. I look forward to my continued engagement with the Alumni Association and can’t thank the organization enough for this opportunity.

I am so honored to be a recipient of this scholarship award. With this scholarship I will be able to focus more of my energy on applying to graduate and professional programs during my senior year as opposed to worrying about my financial responsibilities.
